Human Rights in the Umayyad and Abbasid Eras

Abstract

The worlds of culture, media and politics are interested today in the continual talk about human rights, which has become a subject taught from the early stages of education, and in which the Western model is presented through international law, the charter of human rights and the United Nations Charter. The Islamic model is consciously and intentionally ignored to conceal or even distort it, Islam sponsored and protected the human rights and people’s security, lives, beliefs, and property. It is thus necessary to study the human rights in Islam to see what was it like. The research deals with the concept of human rights linguistically and terminologically and tackles human rights in Islam in general and in the Umayyad and Abbasid eras in particular.
