Developing a Mental Program for Training Students in the Department of Theatrical Arts to Develop their Acting Performances

Abstract

The structure of theatrical performance has evolved according to different methods and narratives in all directions. The technological and cognitive development has sought to develop the foundations and scientific concepts of the mentality of the actor, and many trainers focus on their training on the physical side without paying attention to mental training and developing the performance skills of the actor, which represents the existence of a problem and requires finding appropriate solutions to it. This study deals with the research problem through developing a proposed program for mental training in developing the performance level of the theater actor. The study problem is represented by the following question: What are the effects of the perceptual person on developing the performance of the theater actor through a proposed program? Do mental influences give a positive or negative impression on his skillful abilities in his acting performance? The importance of research and the need for it were focused on providing an academic scientific program through which the impact of a mental training program for students of the theater arts department to develop the performance of the actor is measured, in addition to the benefit provided to workers and those interested in the field of acting, directing, and artistic activities related to representational performance.


The study aims to build a mental training program for students of the theater arts department to develop the actor's performance. In order to achieve this goal, the study dealt with the concept of mental training, its basic skills, its importance for the theatrical ideal, as well as the actor's motor characteristics and their specificity in mental training. One of the most important conclusions is to prove the effectiveness of the mental training program in improving the performance of the students of the theater arts department for the actor and developing their mental skills, and that the mental training measure is able to measure the level of mental skills of the theater actor.
