Abstract

This research aims to uncover the most prominent aspects of the political rebellion in the poetry of Muwaffaq Muhammad via studying it according to Lucien Goldmann's approach in genetic structuralism. This theory reveals the relationship of poetry to society, and the worldview that surrounds the poet. Thus, it also reveals the external influences that affect the formation of the internal structures of the text. The genetic structuralist approach is considered one of the non-extremist approaches, which balances what is contextual and what is systematic. Accordingly, the study will follow the concept of "understanding" which begins by studying and analyzing it from within, and extracting the most prominent internal structures in it, then linking these structures to external influences that affect their emergence by applying the poet's worldview. Ultimately the study will extract one of two consciousnesses: either the "existing" or the "potential".
